Hotmelt Coating Station
The quality of a hotmelt coating layer is determined by the optimal coordination of all process steps. Temperature control, material feed, application, web handling and controls must work together seamlessly. Only then can a stable and reproducible coating process be achieved. Our Coating Station is designed to deliver that consistency and stable quality throughout your entire production run, whilst offering the flexibility and speed you expect from your production line. Discover its standout features below:
The patented Coating Head
The glue head is the heart of the Hotmelt Coating Station and is fitted with heating elements, temperature sensors and various pump sections to apply a coating layer that is as uniform as possible.
Three individually driven pumps deliver precisely the right pressure to ensure an even distribution of adhesive across the entire web width. A nozzle helps to ensure the correct coating thickness and distributes the adhesive evenly across the substrate. Good to know: there is a nozzle available for every desired coating thickness or pattern. In short: you have complete control over your coating process down to the last detail and leave nothing to chance.
Unique individually driven pumps
The servo-controlled pumps ensure a constant, uniform and controlled adhesive feed across the entire web width. The pump pressure is linked to the web speed. The higher the speed, the more adhesive is fed, thereby ensuring a stable coating process regardless of the speed. The pump pressure and temperature can be easily controlled via the HMI (the control panel).
Nozzles
The core component of the Hotmelt Coating Station is the Coating Head, in which a special nozzle ensures the transfer of adhesive to the substrate. Various types of nozzles are available, such as the DieRect Roller Nozzle, the SlotNozzle and the Shim DieRect Roller Nozzle, which, in combination with the patented adhesive head, ensure the highest coating quality and the best end product.
SlotNozzle
The SlotNozzle forms the basis of a controlled hotmelt coating process. The adhesive is fed from the advanced coating head to the nozzle under precisely regulated pressure. Here, the molten adhesive is distributed evenly across the width and applied to the substrate. The coating pattern is determined by an interchangeable shim, allowing patterns to be easily adapted to the application. In this way, the SlotNozzle combines a stable coating pattern with maximum flexibility.
DieRect Roller Nozzle
The DieRect Roller Nozzle is a patented application module. It features a hardened roller that filters impurities directly out of the adhesive before it is applied to the substrate. The adhesive is then sprayed directly onto the substrate and spread evenly using the roller. The result is an ultra-thin coating layer, of up to 10 grams per square metre, without streaks or variations in layer thickness.
And just like the system itself, its flexibility has been carefully thought through: by simply swapping the shims, you can adjust patterns quickly and effortlessly.
The DieRect Roller Nozzle is ideal for low coating weights and delivers an extremely homogeneous coating finish.
Shim Direct Roller Nozzle
With the Shim Direct Roller Nozzle, you get the best of both worlds. Hard contaminants are filtered out of the adhesive straight away, so you’re always working with a clean product.
The adhesive is then extruded directly onto the substrate and spread evenly with a roller. This ensures an extremely thin coating layer, without streaks or variations in thickness.
What makes this system particularly effective is the way the pattern is determined: in this case, too, this is done using a shim. This allows you to work with precision and to switch easily when a different pattern is required.

UV curing
After application, the coating layer is cured extremely quickly using an innovative inert gas chamber in combination with a UV lamp and a double-walled, cooled roller. The oxygen content in this inert chamber is continuously monitored and remains below 50 ppm, as the chamber is filled with nitrogen.
Intermittent coating
Would you like to apply the adhesive locally, in horizontal strips or blocks, rather than across the entire substrate surface? If so, intermittent coating is the ideal solution. This allows you to coat only where necessary, which saves material and ensures a cleaner process. Thanks to the precise control system, you can start and stop the adhesive flow with great accuracy, creating adhesive-free zones that allow you to adapt flexibly to different applications and products.
Pattern coating
Another way of applying controlled adhesive patterns is pattern coating. Using a (pattern) roller, any desired pattern can be coated. Using a roller coating system, the pattern is applied indirectly to the substrate, whilst the coating weight is precisely controlled. Pattern coating offers many possibilities: you apply adhesive only where it is functionally required, benefit from maximum design freedom, whilst maintaining optimum precision and relying on a stable and reproducible process.
Sleeve technologie
