Hotmelt coating lines

Of course, the quality of a laminated panel is not determined by a single machine. Rather, it is the result of a perfectly coordinated process in which every step influences the final bond strength, product quality and production capacity.

We develop stand-alone units as well as complete hot-melt coating lines for manufacturers of panels, doors, flooring, technical composites, insulation materials and other laminated products. From adhesive melting and surface pre-treatment to coating, laminating and material handling: every line is tailored to the customer’s specific materials, product characteristics and production requirements.

Technology is just one part of the whole picture. The real added value comes when your requirements are translated into a controlled and reproducible process that delivers consistent results, day in, day out.

A coating line to match your ambitions

No two products are the same. A PIR insulation panel requires a different approach to a decorative interior panel. Plastic materials behave differently to wood. Lightweight sandwich panels place different demands on the lamination process than heavy-duty structural panels.

That is why we operate on a ‘configure-to-order’ basis. We combine proven technology with customer-specific configurations, ensuring that every coating line is tailored to the required capacity, material properties and product objectives.

From raw material to a perfectly laminated panel

A complete coating line consists of several process stages that follow on seamlessly from one another.

Surface preparation

To ensure optimum adhesion, the surface must be prepared for adhesive application. Depending on the material used in your production process, the line can be equipped with:

  • Corona treatment for plastic materials
  • IR pre-heating for glass and plastics
  • Round Brush systems
  • Cross Brush systems for dust removal on wooden surfaces

These treatments ensure improved surface energy, a cleaner substrate and an optimal base for bonding.

Controlled melting of PUR hotmelt

Production begins with a stable supply of high-quality adhesive. Our PUR Drum Melters melt only the required quantity of hot-melt adhesive and feed it in a controlled manner to the coating system. This ensures that the adhesive quality is maintained and that sufficient capacity is always available for production.

Accurate adhesive application

The hotmelt adhesive is then applied using our Roller Coater technology. Depending on the application, you can choose between single-sided or double-sided coating. Thanks to heated rollers, precise metering and controlled coating weights, a uniform layer of adhesive is created across the entire width of the panel.

Lamination under controlled pressure

After coating, the various materials are fed into a Laminating Index Station or Sheet Feeder. The Rotary Laminating Press then ensures a controlled distribution of pressure across the product. This creates a strong and consistent bond between the different types of material.

Developed for high-quality panel production

The greatest challenges in lamination processes often do not arise from a single component, but from the interaction between materials, adhesives and process settings.

For example:

  • Different material thicknesses within a single product line
  • Combinations of wood, plastic, aluminium and foam
  • Processing of modern PUR and MR adhesives
  • Consistent bonding at higher line speeds
  • High quality requirements for visible surfaces
  • Efficient production with minimal downtime

By designing the entire process as a single system, a line is created in which all components work together optimally. This ensures a stable process, consistent product quality and maximum control over the end product.

From a standalone machine to a fully automated production line

Our standard machines can be used as a standalone process step, but are at their best when integrated into a production line. Both the hardware and software are designed to work seamlessly together within semi- or fully-automated production environments. This creates a single, centrally controlled process in which coating, lamination and material handling are perfectly coordinated.

Would you like to test before you invest?

Every coating line begins with the question: which configuration delivers the best results for your product? That is why we have extensive testing and research facilities where new materials, adhesives and process settings can be validated. During these tests, we work with you to determine which configuration best suits your product characteristics, production capacity and quality objectives.

This way, you know exactly what to expect from the final production line in advance.
