Melting equipment for narrow web coating
A stable coating begins well before the adhesive reaches the coating head. Temperature, viscosity and material feed all have a direct impact on the final coating quality. That is why Maan Engineering supplies melting equipment that offers complete control over the melting, conditioning and conveying of hotmelt materials.
Using our melting equipment ensures a controlled feed of material to the coating station. This keeps the adhesive at the correct processing temperature, minimises material degradation and ensures a stable coating process you can rely on.
Applications for melting equipment
Hotmelt PSA's and UV hotmelts
Pressure-sensitive adhesives and UV-curable hotmelts require a stable processing temperature and consistent viscosity. Controlled melting and a constant supply preserve adhesive properties during production.
A stable adhesive supply as the foundation for product quality
You want to be able to rely on a consistent coating pattern and the desired coating weight at all times. We understand that. This means you require optimum control over your system. In this context, adhesive metering and web speed are inextricably linked. After all, when the line speed is increased, the adhesive dosage must be increased too; more adhesive is required to coat faster. This process is fully automated by Maan, and melting equipment forms a key part of it. The melters must be able to continuously meet demand without fluctuations in pressure, temperature or material availability. Melt-on-demand.
A stable and predictable adhesive supply therefore forms the basis for a consistent coating process. By minimising process variations right at the source, our melting equipment ensures consistent coating quality, even when production volumes increase or higher line speeds are required.

Drum Melter 200
The Drum Melter 200 is a ‘Melt-on-Demand’ pre-melter that has been specially developed for applications where controlled and efficient processing of hot-melt adhesive is essential. The system is equipped with user-friendly controls, automatic venting and an adhesive pressure sensor for maximum control over the melting process.
As only the required quantity of hotmelt is melted, the thermal load on the material is minimised and the adhesive retains its properties more effectively.
Tank Melter
The Tank Melter acts as an intelligent buffer between the Drum Melter and the coating station. In addition to buffering, the system can also be used for pre-melting blocks or granules.
The unique two-zone design ensures that only a limited portion of the adhesive is kept at a constant temperature. This minimises degradation of the adhesive and helps to maintain the quality of the material for longer.
Control over temperature and viscosity
Even a slight variation in processing temperature can have a significant impact on the viscosity of hot-melt adhesive. And consequently on the coating weight, coating quality and performance of the end product. That is why temperature control is an essential part of any coating line.
Our melting equipment is designed to maintain a constant adhesive temperature throughout the entire process, from melting to application. This ensures a stable and predictable coating process.
Melt-on-demand technology
In traditional systems, a large quantity of adhesive is often kept at a constant temperature for long periods. This can lead to a loss of adhesive quality and unnecessary energy consumption.
With Melt-on-Demand technology, only the amount of hot-melt adhesive actually required for production is melted. This ensures the adhesive remains in optimal condition for longer, saves energy and provides greater control over the process.
Procescontrol and monitoring
A stable coating process requires insight. That is why our systems can be controlled centrally from a single control panel, with real-time process data continuously available to operators.
This combination of monitoring and process control makes it easier to optimise production processes, make adjustments more quickly and maintain consistent coating results. Furthermore, this technology forms the basis for closed-loop coat weight control.
