The flat-panel lamination process all begins with melting the adhesive, which is why our melting equipment forms an essential part of every coating and lamination line.<\/p>\n

The equipment ensures a stable and controlled supply of hot-melt to the production line by melting only the required amount of adhesive and continuously monitoring the system.<\/p>\n

The result is an efficient adhesive supply that works perfectly in tandem with the Roller Coater and other line components. This lays the foundation for a reliable production process and high-quality laminated panels.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhat makes our melting equipment unique?\t<\/h2>\n\t

With hotmelt, it’s all about control. As soon as the adhesive cools down too much and is also exposed to air and moisture, its viscosity and workability decrease.<\/p>\n

That is why we have developed our melting equipment with a single aim in mind: maximum control over adhesive quality.<\/p>\n\n

\n\t\t\tControl over your adhesive process\t<\/h3>\n\t

Essentially, all hotmelt adhesives operate on the same principle: the adhesive is heated until it becomes liquid; after application, it cools and cures. However, the process window can vary considerably from one hotmelt to another. This is because the viscosity, melting behaviour, application temperature, open time and moisture sensitivity differ depending on the formulation.<\/p>\n

This calls for the right adhesive and control over the process – in other words, a synergy between the adhesive and the material. For example: a higher temperature can cause films, foams or plastics to warp, whilst a porous material requires a higher viscosity. It all starts with the right melting equipment.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tReduced thermal load\t<\/h3>\n\t

A reactive PUR, for example, cannot be kept warm indefinitely. This is because it causes the adhesive to degrade. That is why Maan Engineering’s Drum Melter only melts the top layer of the adhesive, rather than heating the entire drum for prolonged periods. As a result, the adhesive remains in optimal condition for longer, at the correct temperature (which is also explicitly guaranteed during the subsequent process steps), whilst thermal stress and residence time are minimised, making the (start-up) process faster and considerably more energy-efficient. Furthermore, thanks to the closed application system, the adhesive is protected against harmful external influences.<\/p>\n

In short: Maan Engineering’s Melting Equipment operates according to the ‘melt-on-demand’ principle. The Roller Coater continuously measures the adhesive level in the buffer tank. As soon as additional volume is required, the system automatically activates the Drum Melter to supply more. This ensures that only the amount actually needed for production is melted.<\/p>\n

The result is a more efficient process with less wastage of costly hotmelt adhesive.<\/p>\n\n

\n\t\t\tPrevent moisture absorption and unwanted curing\t<\/h3>\n\t

As a PUR hotmelt reacts with moisture from the ambient air, air in your system can affect the adhesive’s processing properties and, in the long term, even lead to blockages or quality issues.<\/p>\n

That is why the Melter is equipped with an automatic de-aeration and ventilation system. When production stops, the adhesive is automatically pumped out of the circuit, thereby minimising contact with air as much as possible. This protects the adhesive and ensures that its quality is maintained.<\/p>\n\n

\n\t\t\tConstant adhesive pressure for consistent coating quality\t<\/h3>\n\t

Uniform adhesive application starts with a stable adhesive supply.<\/p>\n

That is why the Drum Melter is fitted with a pressure sensor that continuously monitors the adhesive pressure. When the demand for adhesive decreases, the pressure is automatically adjusted and the system switches to a lower power setting.<\/p>\n

This helps to ensure a predictable coating quality and prevents unwanted pressure fluctuations that could affect the adhesive application.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOptimal configuration for every material and every PUR hotmelt adhesive\t<\/h3>\n\t

Not every adhesive has the same melting properties. Some formulations require a high melting capacity, whilst others perform better when processed at a moderate and gradual rate. That is why our melting equipment can be fitted with various melting plates, including:<\/p>\n
